Either directly or indirectly, all the things we use and that pass through our lives day-by-day affect important parts of some SSE Operating and Maintenance (O&M) Systems.

Since nothing leaves the ship, everything we human SSE space travelers create and use should therefore be recycled if we and our grandchildren’s grandchildren are to continue to enjoy life and the magical oceans, forests and open spaces as we know them.  Saving Home Energy is important!

We should choose to recycle everything in our homes, workplaces, and around the entire Main Deck (earth’s land, waters and air) of Spaceship Earth.

When we multiply everything we do by approximately 6 billion+ humans aboard the Ship, we can realize the minute-by-minute demands of SSE’s finite (limited) supplies.

This chapter is particularly important in the United States where, as verified in Appendix II, we—being approximately 5% of the world’s population—account for the consumption of more than 20% of the world’s total production of fossil fuels, and produce roughly 25% of the world’s total carbon dioxide emissions…our contribution to global warming/Greenhouse Effect.

The uses of many of the products we in the U.S. consume are mostly for the wants—not true needs. In the U.S., the useful life of a manufactured product not really needed is usually brief, before it is discarded to a landfill, or to SSE’s air or water systems.

The Amazing Environment Living Planet Grass and leaves (11.3%), tree trimmings (14.0%), and food waste (7.2%) total 32.5%. These three things, accounting for over 30% of the total U.S. garbage and waste, could be disposed of in the production of biofuels, or through composting! Recycling would further reduce the waste by 50.6% for an 83.1% total reduction.

The ancient Egyptians built monumental, awe-inspiring pyramids of granite, we too are building monumental pyramids—our pyramids are of poisonous garbage and trash.

Find out where recyclable materials are currently collected in your city or town. When they are open, and what price is being paid for aluminum, steel, plastic and etc. The money received from recyclable materials may pay for publicizing your new city’s or town’s recycling program.  If there are no local recycling locations…get busy and, using the general format of the following ACTION POSTCARD, send an action postcard to your mayor and local newspaper editor with a kind

note offering to help start and operate a recycling center. Perhaps you and your friends can form a SSE Unit (Chapter 6) with a main goal of forming new recycling centers.

ACTION POSTCARD!

Use an action postcard to spread the word to our U.S. legislators—our very well paid employees—informing them of our desires, versus the desires of third party—special interest groups—or of tradeoffs with our other governmental employees seeking still other, special interest objectives for their PERSONAL benefits and continued life in office.

Perhaps the MOST IMPORTANT thing is making sure that there are markets for recycled materials. The establishment of “Green Stores” will help to solve this problem, although the products sold there will probably cost more than current products usilizing virgin, many times limited, natural resources. Many industries and businesses will fight not to have us recycle!

Our planet Earth has all of the specificaitons of a completely selfcontained, magnificent, magical Spaceship … Spaceshop Earth (SSE).

We humans have severely damaged a number of SSE’s vital Operating and Maintenance Systems, which affects ALL of life…including our own. As an officer, crew member or passenger, I know the following things should be done IMMEDIATELY to help SSE make her critically needed repairs:
Get as much education as possible as soon as possible.

• Naturally” adjust our population to a nonpolluting level starting…TODAY.
• See that all human waste (sewage) is processed to be used as fertilizer and not pumped and dumped.
• Develop and use PERPETUAL, NONPOLLUTING energy sources within 10 years.
• All chemicals to be nonpolluting and environmentally safe within 2 years.
• Reduce the use of ALL “Horse & Buggy” fossil fuels by 80% within 10 years.
• Develop and use electric vehicles within 5 years; transcontinental bullet trains within 8 years.
• Establish nationwide recycling, biofuel organic digester centers, and “green stores” within 35 years
• ALL products used by our governments will have 20% or more of recycled products in them within 3 years; 60% within 7 years; 80% within 10 years.
• All manufacturers of “finished” products will establish and fund methods for complete recycling of these products including NUCLEAR WASTE within 6 years.
• Protect the Tropical Rain Forests RIGHT NOW!
• Form a World Association of Scientist to Save SSE (WASSSE) which will turn its genius toward helping SSE in her repairs of the ship.… and PROMISE…as in nature, we will forever recycle EVERYTHING that passes through our lives.
